Portugal, cont.

Ceramics and tiles are the major craft of Portugal. These walls put your kitchen to shame.

Amit and I pose in front of the ominous cloudy castle on the hill!

We explored underground caves and had to climb our way up.

Alex and I at the top of the hill overlooking Lisbon.

MIT over Lisbon!

Portugal Pics

Finally! The long awaited pics:

Here is a shot of our fancy group dinner. Every half an hour they would dim the lights and sing traditional Fado music by candle light. It got a little testy come 1AM in the morning when we were still at the dinner table!

We took a day trip to Sintra and climbed a narrow tower. One of our classmates risked life and limb to take this shot balancing over a winding staircase!

Here is a view from a high point inLisbon. In the distance you can see a replica of Christ the Redeemer and what looks like the Golden Gate Bridge. Jetlagged, it seemed like a mash up dream!

After a day of walking all over Lisbon, we drank and ate in Alfama, the city center. Ahhh cafe culture!

We stayed in the ritzy Bairro Alto. Here is a shot from our balcony of the street.
